Hire MI Vet

Hire MI Vet is a community initiative that coordinates and hosts hiring events and other events to open the doors to meaningful employment.

The initiative is a strategic, yet very straightforward approach to helping the men and women who have served our country in the military find employment through a range of employment-related services. We host employment workshops, networking events, and an annual hiring event.

Michigan Ability Partners Veteran Services

Michigan Ability Partners (MAP) has partnered with Wayne Metropolitan Action Agency to provide veterans in the Washtenaw County area with the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program (SSVF).

 

The SSVF program focuses on securing and maintaining housing for veterans who are currently homeless or would be homeless without this assistance. It provides temporary financial assistance and supportive services to help veterans gain housing stability. The goal is for veterans in the SSVF program to remain stably housed after this temporary assistance ends.

Staples Veteran's Hope House

The Staples Veteran’s Hope House is a transitional housing program for homeless veterans, which provides individualized services to help transition them back into mainstream society.  The Staples Veteran’s Hope House is operated by the Salvation Army of Washtenaw County. Services provided include:


  • Free housing

  • Individualized case work services

  • Weekly meetings with caseworkers

  • Continuing education

U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs -- Homeless Veterans

The VA is committed to ending homelessness among veterans.


Our focus is threefold:

  • Conducting coordinated outreach to proactively seek our veterans in need of assistance

Wadhams Veteran Center

The Wadhams Veterans Center at Washtenaw Community College was created to serve all former and current active-duty military personnel, spouses, and dependents of veterans, and students in the National Guard or Reserves. The center seeks to integrate veterans into the college community by helping with their transition and offering any assistance veterans may need.
